MIGRAZIONE
MIGRAZIONE SIGNIFIES MIGRATION, AND IS A PHOTO SERIES THAT CAPTURES THE SUBURBAN BOROUGH I GREW UP IN: ST.LEONARD, LOCATED IN THE EAST-END OF MONTREAL.
AS A THIRD GENERATION CANADIAN-ITALIAN, MY INTENTION WAS TO VISUALLY ARTICULATE HOW THE ITALIAN COMMUNITY IN MONTREAL HAS INFLUENCED THE UNIQUE SUBURBAN SPACE'S VISUAL CULTURE. I WANTED TO EXPLORE THIS BY DOCUMENTING THE ITALIAN CULTURE WHICH HAS MIGRATED INTO A NORTH AMERICAN SETTING, AND IS NOW FOUND WITHIN ITS NICHE NEIGHBOURHOOD.
THE MOOD EVOKED IN THIS SERIES IS THE RELATIONSHIP I HOLD WITH THIS HUMAN-ALTERED SPACE AND HOW ALL OF THESE UNIQUE ELEMENTS WITHIN ITS SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT HAVE SHAPED WHO I AM TODAY.
MIGRAZIONE PORTRAYS THE EMOTION OF REMINISCENCE AND PAYING TRIBUTE TOWARDS THE MULTIPLE GENERATIONS OF CANADIAN-ITALIAN CULTURE THAT HAS BEEN INTEGRATED IN MONTREAL BOROUGHS AND SMALL COMMUNITIES.
